Infrared remote relay guide: Hide all of your A/V equipment out of sight
This guide was authored by Tommy Fountain and Riley Alexander. If the person using this guide at any time does not feel comfortable performing the tasks mentioned, please seek a professional to assist in your installation process. We recommend that you read through the instructions once completely before starting to avoid any mistakes, and make sure you have all of the proper supplies on hand before starting your job.
So you are interested in hiding you audio video equipment in another room, but still want to be able to control it all with your remote control? Our Infrared Relay Kit is the perfect solution to this common problem.
Our Infrared Relay Kit consists of a small infrared receiver that goes on the wall around your TV. This receiver takes the signal from your remote control and after passing through the connecting block, which is basically a splitter (so you can manage multiple devices), then sends the signal to a little infrared emitter which you place over the receiver lens (this is the little clear window that you would normally point your remote at). Once the kit is installed, you can relay your remotes signal to Audio/Video equipment that is out of sight, and would normally be unreachable by your remotes signal.

Step # 1: Installing the IR Receiver in your wall
Installing the IR Receiver in your wall involves cutting out a hole big enough for a junction box in your wall, and running 4 Strand Security Cabling (Available by the foot on our website) to the location where you wish to relay the signal to. Once you have a junction box in the wall with the 4 Strand Security cable run to where you plan on relaying the signals’, then you simply need to connect the corresponding wires up the receiver following the wiring diagram included with your IR Receiver and then mount the receiver plate to the junction box for a professional and clean installation look.
Step # 2: Connecting the Receiver to the connecting Block, and powering it.
You will now connect the 4 Strand Security cable you ran from you IR Receiver, through the wall to the IR Connecting Block. You will also need to plug in the supplied AC adaptor and plug it in to the connecting block to power it. Use the wiring diagram that came with the IR Receiver to correctly connect the wires.
Step # 3: Connecting the IR Emitters to the connecting block and powering it
Next plug each of the IR Emitters (up to 6) into one of the numbered ports in the IR connecting block.
Step # 4: Attaching Ir Emitters to Your Audio/ Video Equipment
The Ir Emitters will be relaying the signal that you already sent via your remote control. In order for them to do this properly you must place them over the IR receiver on each piece of equipment that you wish to control. The IR receivers on most AV equipment are usually located somewhere under the tinted plastic display, and most often is also round. It may help locating it if you shine a bright flashlight on the tinted screen so you may get a better look at the receiver.
